Multi Page Form File Upload

I am working on a multi page form I have a file upload on the first page.

page 1. file upload
page 2. text fields
page 3. insert data into mysql

How do i pass the values of the file upload from page 1? Sessions, Cookies? I can get the upload to work if the next page is the insert page, but not if there is a page(s) in between.

Hello,

You could try simply passing a session id through the url (?id=rh4783fgq64378f etc) or if you wanted to cookies and store the already collected data in a database like sql. If you don't have a database, a form on each page with hidden fields (one will have to hold the filename of the temporary uploaded file) is your only way to go.

Thank you for the reply Jack.... I have tried sessions and all the text fields passed..... but no luck with the file upload....

Hello. The file upload is the trickiest part to pass - you simply can't pass a file field, only a pointer or id to the file uploaded. I'm not 100% sure on the handling of php with uploaded files, but I would assume that an uploaded file would be deleted once the script handling the upload is complete, so would have to handle the uploaded file on the file that receives the file (by copying it over to a more permanent place etc) and then creating a hidden field with a id to link that post to the file.
