okay so i just have a few questions.... i am newish to php i understand stuff like values variables strings functions, i have expeirence in html but not much i know the basics just like php.. i have no expeirence in mysql....okay i will start with the questions lol

1.How can i make a community site with a loggin?? what do i need to use??

2.If i download apache on my computer will i be able to use my computer as a server so i could make a site?

To do it from scratch would take a lot more time to describe than I care to spend on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. 😉 You might want to consider using some existing software, such as a forum (like this site uses) or a CMS-type product (see www.opensourcecms.com for many free options).
Yes. If you mean to use it as the live site available to the the Web, though, it might not be optimal if you expect to have a lot of traffic. (Remember that visitors' response time will be based on your upload speed, not your download speed.) If you just mean to use your PC for testing purposes before uploading the site to a standard web hosting platform, that is very commonly done. There are installation packages such as WAMP for Windows (which I use) and XAMPP which supports multiple platform types so that you can set up Apache, PHP, and MySQL on your PC.

okay cheers mate well i will more likey have a lot of traffic so i guess i might have to buy a server lol

Depending on your technical level and system administration knowledge/experience, you may be better off hosting your site via a 3rd party hosting service, either on a dedicated server if you expect to actually make money and/or need to ensure total control over user identity data, or on a shared host if it's more of a hobby or non-profit thing and you want to keep hosting costs to a minimum. They already have the hardware, the high-speed internet backbone connection, and the people to manage and service everything. (At least, they should have all those things!) Doing a search on something like "hosting provider" should find a number of threads here discussing which providers people feel are good ones to use.

yeah i have a host already its 5yearhosting.co.uk or something and problem is my monthly upload has done so i cant really keep trying stuff out.... like testing to see if i have done php right or not
