table not found .. but it's there...

I have a website using php and mysql. Everything works fine on my machine, but after uploading to the hosting service, I get an error saying a certain table does not exist when the code tries to pull stuff from the database for the webpage to display.
the weird thing is...when I look at the database through phpMyadmin, the table is indeed there...with data in it.
Any idea why I am getting this error, or how to fix it?
I don't know if it makes a difference, but the site is not live...I access it for testing through a link something like http://mydomain.myhoster.com/domain/default.php, and continue that way.

just a simpletons question.. Do you connect to the right database?

yes, it's the correct database... already checked that...and all other tables within that database work as well.

You could have specified an incorrect table name, perhaps differing by letter case. Or perhaps your table name is a reserved word and thus needs to be quoted, though I think the error message should be different in that case.

well, I thought of the spelling as well, but that wasn't it. It's spelled properly...case and all...as for it being a reserved name, the table is called "calendarevents". It worked on my development machine, but once I uploaded the files and database to the hoster, it says the table does not exist, even though it does.
I have even tried deleting the table from the database and uploading again, thinking some data corruption may have occurred during the file transfer, but...no luck...
