Adding values when submitting a form..

I really do not get why I'm recieving errors trying to add values when it's extremely easy but I am.

I get this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/phase01/public_html/calculator.php on line 50

Line 50 is this:
$day1 += 0.70;

I've tried the whole.. $day1 = $day1 + 0.70;
I've tried putting the numeric value in quotes.

I'm not quite sure what is wrong here.

Usually an error on line 50 of this type means there is something wrong on the lines before. Did you end the last line? Please post the 5 lins before this line.

the $day1 variables value before the form is submitted is 0

So indeed, the line before you have an error, you forgot the semicolom:

$s_hh_thrall = "checked";
