Dynamic Pages from DB by URL

Hi,

I need to display registered member profiles as dynamic pages with DB data. Also, I want to call the main "page" with a URL in the form "http://mysite.com/username" where the username is the unique username of the registered user.

From the main page, other "views" will be called from icons.

Does anyone know of a tutorial, guide, book or script set that deals with that?
