Picture Gallary funktion

I´m pretty new when it comes to PHP and I´m trying to learn and right know I´m trying to build a new picture gallery to my site. I have gotten this code from a friend to help me get started but I´m stuck right know.

Thats the code but I cant get PHP to write out the pictures. I have tried some diffrent ways but it dosen´t work at all and I´m hoping that maybe someone can help me to get the code to show me the pictures.

The function you show as it is doens't do anything. How are you implementing this function?

Thanks, I have tried some diffrent ways but I couldn´t get a code to work. I tried to write getImagesInDir(); but then I only got this:

Warning: filetype() [function.filetype]: Lstat failed for photo-001.jpg in D:\Wamp\www\Spelkontroll Testsidor\bildserietest.php on line 27

And the problem is actually that I dont know how to call the funktion. I have tried a few diffrent ways and that is the closet I have come to make the code work.

So the thing I would need help with is to make my function work.

ok, no problem.

What you want / need to do to get started:
0) I assume you have a working webserver, and know where the webroot of your server is (in other wrds: You know where to put the files, and how to reach them in your browser)

1) Create a file, save it as index.php. In it you put the following

$indirectory = "PutThePathToYourFilesOnTheWebRootHere";

$images = getImagesInDir($indirectory, true)

foreach($images as $image)
  {
  echo "<img src=\"".$image."\">";
  }

?>

2) Create another file, called myfunction.php and in it place the function you displayed above. I assume the hashes (#) just came in with copying. Otherwise remove them

3) Open de index.php

That should get you going.

Thanks alot for the code but I have got a problem. When I execute the code I get this message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FOREACH in D:\Wamp\www\Spelkontroll Testsidor\bildindex.php on line 7
'
I not sure if there whats wrong in the code, because when I check it it looks like it should work. I cant figure out what the problem is.

It tells you that the code did not expect to find a foreach loop. Which usu=ally means that there is an error in the line above it, typically a missing semicolon. As in this case: I forgot to type the semicolon here:

$images = getImagesInDir($indirectory, true);

Hello, thansk alot for the script! I got it to work the exakt way I wanted now if you would like to see it you can check it out on this adress http://www.spelkontroll.net/photogallery/ if you click on one of the pictures you will see how the gallery works.

Now is the next step to try to make it work with my database. I dont know maybe you have any idea how to do that also. I would like to make the script so I dont have to write the whole script with a diffrent $dir every time. Is it possible to somehow make it so that you just can change the $dir when I have gotten more pictures from games or so. So they dont get in the same gallery but in a new one for those pictures. I write news about games everyday and show pictures and it would be so good to have to write the whole code every time.

I dont know if you understand what I mean but if you dont please write and I shall try to explain better.

Hm..
You are now talking about two things. What would you like to focus on? Running it from a database, or by indexing the files in a directory (Which is what you currently do).

I dont know whats the best to do. I want iy to work as easy as possible. I think the easiest would be to index the fils by directory but I´m not sure. An exempel if say I write 20 news one day and have pictures to all of them, what is the easiest way to make the code work?
