Order By Clause Problem Php

Hello.

     I am trying following code in php.


       $result =mysql_query("select SponsorId, concat( LastName,' ',   FirstName) as SponsorName,concat(lastname,'  ',  firstname) AS Name from sponsordetails where Status=1 order by Name");

echo "<select name=\"Sponsorname\" onchange=\"reload(this.form)\" style=\"width:300px;\">";
for($i=0;$i<mysql_num_rows($result);$i++)

$rs=mysql_fetch_object($result);
echo "<option value=\"{$rs->SponsorId}\" ";

It give me record in select . It If there is no value or null value in LastName column in database table sponsordetails and only FirstName is avilable in table in dropdownlist it dose not show me one A to Z record list . It show me two A to Z record list. But no record is repeted in dropdown list. So what I do It show me only one A to Z record .

Please Help me.

The Result of my code is , one dropdown list which show the "LastName+FirstName" from table sponsordetails . In that table Colume LastName many records have empty value. So when we fire above mycode query ("$result") It listing record by who have lastName and who don't have lastName . And also in drop dowm list it show like that .Means frist he show all record order by asc LastName and in same list after complete all lastname record he show order by asc all first Name record. means they not showing mix record order by asc.

And also SponsorId which I have in select option value.

Hm.. What do you want to show in the dropdown?

1) All names, first names with lastname, then those without
2) All names, first names without lastnames, then the ones with lastname
3) Only names with lastnames

All SponsorName (see mycode query and select)

That is "LastName+FirstName" All Name

So you want all sponsor names where both first & last name are known?:

It is not giving me all record . because of LastName <>

I want All Names Where The LastName is also not available. I want all record In A to Z sequence . That is my problem . In drop down list By my code and also your posted code The list is not sequence . Both code showing two A to Z sequence in the dropdown list one whose have lastname in table and second who don't have lastname in table.

OK, what should the sort be then?:

Sorted by lastname, then first name (Resulting in a group of no-lastnames and then the rest):
$result =mysql_query("select SponsorId, LastName, FirstName from sponsordetails where Status=1 order by Lastname, FirstName");

Sorted by Firstname, then lastname:
$result =mysql_query("select SponsorId, LastName, FirstName from sponsordetails where Status=1 order by Firstname, LastName");

I am not sure what you would like to have sorted from A-Z then.

The first query in the last post would sort all names first by lastname (Resulting in a block with and one without lastname, within each subset the names sorted by firstname):

Angelina
Pete
Suzie
Joe Jolie
Pete Peterson
Susanne Zubeku

The second should give you all names sorted by firstname, when two firstnames are the same, the lastnames are sorted.

Angelina
Joe Jolie
Pete
Pete Peterson
Susanne Zubeku
Suzie

Please show me the output you do get, and the one you would like
