Does it bode well for what/whom?
Zend !== PHP, just as Redhat !== Linux. If Zend is sold, depending on who buys it and what they plan to do with it, it could potentially be a plus or a minus to the overall PHP community. But frankly, I doubt it will have too big an impact either way on most of us, unless you are highly dependent on any of their custom products.
