Hi, I'm making a program to simulate the activity of a user on a bulletin board so that I can benchmark some bulletin board / server combinations. Here are some guesses that I have made regarding the behavior of a normal user. can anybody give me any better figures? guesses and feedback on my guesses are welcome to.
I figure:
1) the average user spends around 30 seconds to 1 minute reading the list of topics/forums.
2) the average user spends around 2 minutes reading posts
3) the average person spends around 1-3 minutes answering/replying.
4) If the user doesn't like the the first few posts he goes back to the forum list after around 20 seconds rather then responding or reading other posts within that thread. I would say this happens at least 1/2 to 1/4 of the time.
5) a busy user respond to about 1 out of 4 posts. the average user about 1 out of 10
this is meant as a cycle, not total activity.
Any more things that I should think of? any changes?
