referring users script

hi, hope that somewhone can help me with this

a friend asked me to make a website that allows to make a simple registration of a user, like his name and mail and a simple link, then, when you open site.com/?username it will show that persons information on a simple php page.
since i'm new to php i dont know where to start, i know i need to create a database but... like i said, i just know the php basics :queasy:

This is really too ambiguous/nebulous a question for anyone to give any real answer to. You might do well to get a basic php book or read some tutorials. Any beginning PHP/mySQL tutorial will show you how to store & read information from a database, which is what you'll need to do. When you get stuck on specific problems, that's when the forum can help out.

well, lets start then, how do i make a database call when opening a url like www.site.com/index.php?=username
