Fulltext restrictions

I’ve built a database with fulltext search. But I have come up with one small problem – a lot of my content consists of 3 character acronyms eg BMI, EMI – is there any way of allowing certain 3 character words within a fulltext search?

In your mySQL configuration, set the following in my.cnf

[mysqld]
ft_min_word_len=3

You will have to rebuild your FULLTEXT indexes -- see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/fulltext-fine-tuning.html
