I posted this in another subgroup on this page before seeing that this might be the better place to get an answer.
I'm currently in the 'thinking/layout' stage of making a custom made SCUBA diving log application and I've got two questions LOL for starters)
The first, can PHP create a list of values based on a value that was selected in another field? For example, If I goto Cozumel, Mexico to go diving there are many dive locations to choose from, apposed to let's say I dive my local rock quarry were I have only 3 locations to choose from.
So what I want to be able to do is select Cozumel as my location and then in a second field have a list (pull down is fine) of only those sites in Cozumel, if I choose the quarry I only get the 3 sites that are listed for that location.
My second question is how can I increment a number based off date. I want to be able to have three dive numbers tracked, one what overall dive number is this, what dive number of the day is it(how many dives have I done in a 24 hour period) and third how many dives have been done this year (I'm not sure if I have asked this correctly but I think my example of what I want will clear this up).
Let's say today at 10:00AM I made my first dive of the day and it turns out this is my 200th career dive (I know I can make this an auto increment field so that is easy) At 11:30 AM I make a second dive and a third at let's say 8:00PM.
And finally I'd like to be able to track the number of dives made for a given year (1/1/xx to 12/31/xx)
The end result would look something like this:
Dive No. 200
Dive of Day: 1
Dive No. of Year: 8
Dive No. 201
Dive of Day: 2
Dive No. of Year: 9
Dive No. 202
Dive of Day: 3
Dive No. of Year: 10
