[RESOLVED] best database schema for simple album

Hi all, I have a noob-ish db structure question that I'm hoping for some great advice on. I am doing my reading, but want to ask a few real people their thoughts...

All I want is to
- have albums with an image and audio file-set on each page of the recordset.
- store the files outside the database

I have 2k+ image/audio pairs that I want to separate into albums of ~500 sets each

Should I have an 'album' table with a foreign key to separate content tables with pathname?

Or Maybe the 'album' table could include the same filenames (1.jpg, 1.mp3; 2.jpg, 2.mp3; etc) and have the paths on another table?

I don't care what the files are called.

What I would do:

• have all the audio files in a directory
• Have all the images in a directory

Have a table 'Albums':
[album_id][album_name]

A table tracks:
[track_id][track_name][track_image][track_music]

and depending on whether your tracks can be in multiple albums or not, either a colum [track_album] in tracks, of a linking table album_to_tracks
[track_nr][album_nr]

You can then use a constant to define the path to your tracks / images or use relative paths from the display script.
