[RESOLVED] ORDER BY question

I'm sorting a result by alphabetical order:

"ORDER BY lastname DESC"

Nothing too difficult. But I'd like to add another field to the sorting.

Each customer has a status field. It is either 1 or 0. 1 = active, 0 = inactive.

I'd like to continue ordering by the lastname, but only show the actives on top, and then the inactives below the actives. For example:

Smith (active)
Garrison (active)
Beau (active)
Zorro (inactive)
White (inactive)
Adams(inactive)

Hope this makes sense. I think I've seen multiple ways of ordering a query result, but I'm not catching on too well.
