[RESOLVED] How to move up 1 or more directories?

fopen opens a file in the current dir by default. The only function I found was chdir( ), which will change the dir within php only, will not work with fopen. Is there a way to move up one or more directories easily?

Or will I have to get the current dir (i.e. getcwd( ))and parse the string the old fashion way to change the path?

directory structure;
domain.com/
misc/db.log

script/script.php

<?php
// script name: script.php

$fh = fopen("db.log", "r+");
//other statements
?>

FINALLY found the method myself, after freaking hrs of digging the net to no avail and mainly from trial and error. Can't believe it was so simple, well I guess I can, after all, all it is is to move up a directory. If there's an easier way, please post

chdir("..");
$fh = fopen(getcwd() . '/misc/db.log', "r+");
blah blah blah

This drove me nuts :eek: now I can go to bed soon!
