keep form data?

I need to make a five page form survey. how can I navigates to a previous page, then data that I have entered will be displayed in the form?

such as I fill my email address in the form input area, then I go to next page, then I go back , the email address will be desplayed in the form.

by the way, I use session to save every pages' input data.

so there is not a triky method for all kind form like radio buttons, drop down boxes and textareas?
only can we write php code for every input field?

I am afraid you will have to populate them yourself, yes.

That being said: I am sure you can come up with a nifty function? I wrote a little function myself which presets variables (either with an empty string, or with the submitted values) and all my forms have the selected / value='' built in, independent of whether it was submitted. I do not care for keeping form values when people browse back (Actually.. I try to limit the options to do that).

But yes. It is extra work
