php scrolling box !?

Hi all...

Not sure if the title matches what I need exactly but here goes...

I am using a script that someone else developed and they are not available to help. The script is a poker league database with tournament updating and score keeping. I have a guy that likes the script and wants me to make a web site for him but I do not know php and have a bit of a problem. The list of players and the scores grow in length as they are added and I would have to either make the web page really long or keep adding to it as it grows. Would there be a way to make the existing script grow into a scrolling box so when it exceeded say 25 names it would have a scroll bar on the side to search deeper?

As I said, I do not know php and I am a total noob when it comes to this stuff. I know enough to change a few things based on my html knowledge but I could use some help here.

You could put the results into a block-level HTML element such as a DIV, and give it a CSS style with a max-height value and a value of "auto" for the overflow property. Then use an IE conditional comment to set the height to a fixed value for versions of IE less than 7 (which do not support the max-height property).

Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it.

The script works except that the line "<!--[if lt IE7]>" shows up as text on the page, so I just deleted it.
Did you look at the page ?
Is there a way to make just the box with the names and scores scroll and leave the header and footer static? I tried a couple of different things but they were all wrong

Something's wrong if that conditional comment is showing up (duh!). Only thing I can think of is to make sure there is a space after the "", to ensure the browser interprets it as a comment (though all examples I've seen of this have not spaces there). As far as not scrolling the headers, that becomes a bit more complicated. They may need to be displayed separately above the scrollable DIV. If using a table, then you may need to hard-code in the column widths in that heading row and the actual data table in order to get them to line up. This could again be done with CSS by assigning a class to reach TD element, with the style for those classes specifying the desired width.
