How to get the size of a file that exceeds post_max_size

I would like to know if there is some function that returns the size of a file that would be sent in a form with the POST method and whose size would exceed the post_max_size value in the php.ini file.

As $_FILES doesn't return anything if the file size exceeds post_max_size, how can we still get the size of the file sent? Is there any function to do so?

I am not aware of any way to do so, but of course that's not absolute proof by any means. You could check the $_FILES['file_field_name']['error'] value to see if it is one of the values as listed here, and at least be able to tell the user with some degree of certainty if the problem was the file size. (And you could tell them what the max size is via [FONT="Courier New"]ini_get('upload_max_filesize')[/FONT].)

Well, the thing is that in this particular case of file size exceeding post_max_size, $_FILES returns an empty array, then I can't catch any info on what is sent.
Pretty weird.
