Encoding conversion

Hello all,

I'm doing a project involving lots of characters encoding and htmltidy.

The final ouput encoding to be saved in the database has to be in unicode format. But the users may enter ISO-8859-1 characters or non-english letter such as "Piaţa reglementată". I've tried htmlentities, iconv, mb_convert_encoding. Somehow they just don't get converted to unicode but end up something non-sense.

Could anyone lighten me a bit, please?

Just make your form to accept UTF-8 only. When the users type in the form, their characters should be transferred into UTF directly. Also make the page encoding thus
