setting my extension directory

In my php.ini, I dont have my extension_dir defined. does it have to be an absolute directory or can it be relative ?? im running my php off my windows computer so is it forward slashes or back slashes ?

This is how i set it

extension_dir = "C:\Program Files\EasyPHP 2.0b1\php5\ext"

would that be the proper syntax ?

The default is "./ext", although I prefer to use an absolute path just to be safe (how often are you going to be moving the extension directory around anyway??).

Either works fine. I prefer to stick with forward slashes for all paths (in php.ini as well as PHP scripts), that way you don't have to worry about the backslash being interpreted as an escape character.

Im not going to moving them around at all. its just that im trying to enable PDO_mysql because I see it in my extension, but i dont see it when I run a phpinfo(). under PDO i only see mysqlite... plus im trying to install this program called magento and its not detecting it or the extension mcrypt and curl. Which are both in my extensions as well.

When i look into php.ini, i see all of them except of the PDO_mysql one. im not sure why but i added it anyhow. Im guessing if its in my extensions then i should have it. but yet the application or phpinfo() still doesnt detect it so i was guessing it may of been my extension_dir that was wrong

Have you been restarting your webserver every time you make changes to the php.ini file?

No. Im running it off my computer. do i still need to do that ????

I just did it, didnt work. still not showing it.. when i do phpinfo() there is a section that says PDO but it just shows mysqlite and PDO mysqlite no mysql

Regardless of where you're running it, it all works the same. If PHP was installed as an Apache ISAPI module (e.g. the .dll file), then it won't read and parse the php.ini file again until you restart Apache.

So im guessing there probably is no other suggestions about going about and fixing it
