Adding Up Data From Multiple Rows?

not sure the best way of doing this...

add up point from usergroup 1
rows id 1 and 2

table

id usergroup user points
1 1 1 10
2 1 2 10
3 2 3 30

then display:

usersgroup 1 has 20 points.

SELECT SUM(points) as total FROM table WHERE usergroup = 1

If you wanted to do all of them at once you can use GROUP BY

SELECT usergroup, SUM(points) AS pointstotal FROM table GROUP BY usergroup

That would give you a nice summary table - you could also order by usergroup or whatever.
