&777&

I'm working with a contact form as part of a Flash template. The code has been offered here before but no one has addressed the PHP line:

$pre_array=split ("&777&", $request);

which comes from the Flash AS line:
this[parent.fields_descriptions[1]]=parent[parent.fields_descriptions[1]]+"&777&"+parent.fields_descriptions[2];


Does this open the access mode to 777 from 755? Can I just change the 777 to 755 and still have it work?

My problem is that there is a delay in the loading of the Thank You page and the sending of the email, up to 5 minutes. On another server from the same host, I have NO problems. Any ideas? I was hacked a couple of months ago and changed the access from 777 to 755 which is when this stopped working. Please help. Thanks.

My guess is that this has nothing to do with permissions at all. This line just breaks up a string called $request and puts it into an array by 'splitting' it every time the string &777& occurs in it. Try reading the manual on [man]split[/man].

Yeah, I was thinking that, but why 777? Any other ideas on the delay issue?

I can't even begin to speculate on the reason for '777'. It looks to me like whoever wrote it was either dealing with very particular request input caused by something beyond his control or he/she was trying to specify a delimiter that had a reasonably good chance of being unqiue.

As for the 'delay' in sending your email, I'd almost guarantee you it has absolutely nothing to do with permissions. Permissions tend to be a 'yes or no' type of situation, not a 'sooner or later' situation. Email delays can be caused by anything. Remember, email sometimes has to travel through many intermediate computers before arriving at its destination. There are also delivery queues and spam filters and all other sorts of crap that have to chew on the mail before it finally gets where it's going.

If it's getting through at all, you should count yourself lucky.
