[RESOLVED] server dont refresh

I have try solved this problem for two days and still no sucess, hope here i ll more lucky! I'm running apache php and mysql on more or less default settings and one day i try to protect server with .htaccess .htpasswd, it didnt work nothing i didnt get no prompt for asking than i was litle playing and insert icon inside, with all thise trys i comment this icon and what do you know it's still there now i delite all and put inside .htaccess only thise!

Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
</Directory>

And apache is still doing his job 😐 i asume something isnt refresh but im still newbie just reading a book and need help! Thanks for help.

Try removing the directory tags and see if that works

If you just have <Directory>, Apache should be throwing a 500 Internal Server Error, because that's not valid syntax.

You can try removing the Directory tags, but it's very likely that there is another issue. For one, are you positive the file is called .htaccess (and not .htaccess.txt, for example, if you had file extensions hidden) and are you also positive that you've placed this file in the correct place (i.e. within the directory you're trying to protect).

Yes filename is correct on other forum they say i must change AllowOverride which is default none into all to allow .htaccess and it work for now.
