PHPMYADMIN Question

Hey guys,

I am new to phpmyadmin and I have just a quick question for you.

Can I create all my Mysql code and queries in phpmyadmin?

I'm not sure what you mean, but you can use the generated SQL code phpMyAdmin produces after you do something.

You can also do all of your database operations in phpMyAdmin, including raw SQL using the SQL tab.

I guess what i am trying to say is:

can I create all my sql queries in phpmyadmin without creating them from scratch?

so I would not have to write all the sql queries from scratch

Well... not to my knowledge. For the standard SELECT statements, it's not really hard to create them "from scratch"...

SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM myTable

and you're done.

For anything more complicated than that, it's hard for something like PMA to read your mind and generate a SQL query for you.

I am trying to create a microblogging application in php and I am new to the mysql data stuff, so

I am trying to create my sql statements in phpmyadmin without ever diving into my code to do it.

I so far have one table called users, but i will have a lot more to create.

I hope I can create all my sql code in phpmyadmin.

I think you should check into DB Designer 4 by FabForce or MySQL's Workbench 5.0

You can do database modeling and then export the schema as SQL.

yea, phpmyadmin is just an administratin tool. It is a great way to setup your database, tables and columns. I have on occation, for quick testing, droped a row or two of data in using it. And it is nice to be able to quickly edit a record there without having to worry about any programing restriction I may have on the actual site that access data.

If your looking to add more data or retrieve data via it you are going find it not what you want.
