We'll probably need more info, such as what you mean by "appears in unknown font": does this mean when your web application displays results it is full of "place-holder" characters, or is the data garbled when the database is viewed directly, or what?
It also may help to have some more info on how the data was originally inserted and then "imported" to the server.
