I have a login situation where php validates a user id and password, then opens a new page.

Internet Explorer carries the session data seamlessly between the pages, but other browsers have trouble initially.
Firefox, Opera, and Safari(Win) all lose the session variables the first time someone tries to log in.
So, if I go to the login page and log in, these three will drop the session data. But if I then login again, the session data carries through just fine.
Can anyone explain why that works like that? Can it have anything to do with how I've written my PHP?
