[RESOLVED] PhpMyAdmin logging in problem

I am trying to login to phpmyadmin, and nothing happens. It just reloads the same page asking for my username and password. I don't understand why it is doing this. I have everything right. It has been doing this for about a week... ever since I downloaded Xampp.... does this have anything to do with that?

Did Xampp ask for a username and password, and if so, have you tried that? Also, failing that, have you tried the old faithful root no password?

Xampp did ask for a username and password. I don't know how to use Xampp, or even what it does. I downloaded it because someone told me to make my website I should use Joomla, which required that I download Xampp. Now I can't even log on to phpmyadmin.... Does me downloading Xampp have something to do with why I can't get on with phpmyadmin?
It seems every time I understand a little more of php, something goes wrong and I have to start over. 🙁 Please help.

Oh, and to answer your question, I did try root no password, and same thing happened. It just reloads the same page with the username and password on it.

You may have to reset the root password if you don't remember changing it: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html
