You're in a tough situation. Someone would have to look though the source code or be familiar with that particular application.
You most likely can't post the source code (even in part). You should look at your agreement to see what you are/are not allowed to do.
The problem lies in the fact that it's difficult for us to help you without seeing any source code.
I can help you with this much:
Sorting is most commonly done in one of two ways, MOST times through the SQL Statement itself, so you would look at the PHP file that displays the listing (i.e. browse.php)
Look to see how they get the information for the listing, and it is SQL, it would have an ORDER BY clause.
If you are a confident programmer then you can take a look at the system yourself, otherwise someone will have to review the source code off of your server.
Just ensure to follow the guidelines as set by the software purchase.
