Confusing PHP Error (fsockopen)

Hi,

Im having a fsockopen problem and I dont understand why.. becuse if you ping
or browse to webmail.americasmarketingnetwork.com everything works on port 80

Yet Im doing a test to get valid response headers using an fsockopen

and i get

fsockopen() : unable to connect to webmail.americasmarketingnetwork.com:80 (Connection timed out) 110

But it is valid connection! So im confused.. the only thing i did recently was install zend optimizer 3.3.3 x86 Linux

I also ran the code on the command line and tried direct IP with no luck
this just stop working yesterday after zend install i think... and i think it has to do with zend/apache/php not playing well together

but i took out zend's .so from the ini file and still the same problem after
restart of services (and even the machine!!)

Does anyone have a clue why or how to debug a VAID pingable IP or DNS
name that fsockopen fails on..

and just to lay some stuff questions to rest.. its not the firewall on router or the server because i have another server inhouse that perfectly fsockopens to the VALID address above with no problem... but the server that fsockopens has ion cube installed not zend

and the one that just broke has ioncube first loaded then zend!

So fustrating!!

The Zend/IonCube/NuCoder extensions won't interfere with this at all. Those extensions are just to read the encoded php files. So nothing to really worry about there.

First thing I would do is SSH into that server, and do a quick ping from the command line to see if the server itself can ping that address. Could be a DNS issue, could be a whole host of things.

Make sure your server can browse there first, then think about it being a PHP thing.

Thanks for your help I fixed the problem... it was my own fault.. I was doing some one to one nat routing features with my router on my ip ending in .13 (the problem IP) so when I moved it off the .14 box 2 days ago , I forgot to change the router and the routher thought .13 was still on .14 even though it didnt exist.. creating a packet clusterfuk.. once i released all these options in my router I got it to finally talk.. soving the fsockopen problem pings, traces, lions tigers and bears oh my!

I guess i noticed the problem after i installed zend thinking PHP was screwed up
