Execution of .sh-file via php

Hello.

I want to execute a sh-file via php, but it doesn't work out with exec or passthru. I can execute the script via the (Mac) Terminal, but nothing seems to happen on the website.

I changed chmod to 777 and tried to change chown to the php's executing user, but still nothing seems to happen. If you have any idea or time to help, thank you very much!

can you add it to your .htaccess file?

Yes, I could add this, but all I got was the precompiled code of the .sh-file.
Is there any way I could execute the .sh-file as root-user? It works great
in the terminal, so I think it's a problem with rights...

Does anyone know how to solve this one?
