A string manipulation question...

So I have a string like this :

~1012514~~1867~ ( length of string and numbers will vary )

I want to find the last occurance of ~##~

And replace it with a new number..

.......

I know theres quite a few string operations, but not sure exactly which would be best for this....

$string = preg_replace('/(?<=~)\d+(?=~$)/', $newNumber, $string);
