allow only english characters in textbox

hi all

I want to have a form in my php page. The form would have 5 text boxes. the first 3 should only accept english character set and last 2 should only accept arabic charset. Does anybody have idea how to do it

What did you want to do with this form?

This is a very vague question. I would recommend searching for tutorials.. such as this one (forms tutorial).

Hi there,
the question is not vague, well let me tell me you my objective. The thing is i have my site in bilingual. In english and arabic. So i just want only selected fields to be bilingual. hence, i just want only selected textboxes to be english and others arabic, so that i can just insert the arabic text in the table which i have in the DB.

Do i sound clear.

If using UTF-8 as your character set, you could use the [man]preg_match[/man] function with ranges of allowed characters within a character class (or disallowed characters, whichever way is easier for you). You would need to be sure to use the "u" modifier for your regular expression to ensure it is treated is UTF-8. If you are using some other multi-byte character set, then you'll need to use the [man]mbstring[/man] extension along with the applicable mb_ereg* function.
