installing apache

Im a very new newbie and have fallen at the first fence. I have tried to install apache but I get errors saying it cant find apache2.

So. Back to square one. When i was installing apache, a window came up asking me three questions:

1) what is the network domain? I dont know what this question is asking for. Apache filled in this textbox with the name of my router which is Belkin. But this doesnt seem right.

2)Server Name. Not sure about this either. Again Apache has filled this in with the name of my computer plus the name of the router. Thus:
markets2-36e36.Belkin
This again seems odd

3)Administrators email. Apache has put in admin@Belkin. This looks very odd and has made me question whether I should be putting in different vaues at this point in the installation.

I'm not sure what kind of computer you are trying to install on, but I would imagine that the apache site might be more useful for this information (or at least the 'installation' forum here). You might want to check howtoforge.com or apache.org.

if you are new to apache and php, it will be worth while not to install them from scratch. As you will spend lots of time trying to figure out installations than you will your project. Simply download and install all-in-one apps like easyPHP...there are also others available.

If you are installing Apache for use as a local testbed, enter localhost for both.

Put in your own (server admin-related) email address. If this is a local testbed, it probably does not matter anyway.

That is a gross exaggeration, though for some unfortunate cases it does happen. But then such cases happen for third party installers as well.
