PHP, MySQL and MS Excel

Is there a simple way to move my MS Excel files into a MySQL db using PHP? I have a number of Excel files with a number of worksheets each and I need to organize all this data into a data base.

You may need to save each worksheet as a separate file. You can then use phpMyAdmin's import facility to load it. Or you could save them as CSV files and either use phpMyAdmin's import option, or use LOAD DATA INFILE from the MySQL command line (or within a PHP script?).

I was hoping there would be a better, faster way to do it. As an example, I have phone numbers from around the world. Each country is a separate worksheet. As you can imagine, this would become a monumental taks (my life is only so? long). And that is only phone numbers!!!!

You may want to poke around in places like pear.php.net and sourceforge.net and see if anyone has a PHP function/class for extracting data from multi-sheet spreadsheets, then.
