Search in Progress

Hi,

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I have a WHOIS search on my site and it can sometimes take a few seconds to return the results. I'm trying to display a image showing 'Search in Progress' after the submit button is pressed but no luck so far.

The WHOIS search form submits to a page called domain_search.php, at the top of this I have an INCLUDE to whois1a.php, this file does the search and builds an array of the results, these results are then displayed in domain_search.php.

My problem is getting the image to display whilst the whois1a.php script is running. Is it possible?

You could do it with an AJAX implementation, having the javascript that makes the HTTP request to the server-side search script first display the "searching" image or text, then remove it when the response is received. Of course, this would mean you'd need to alter the UI/application design to run it as an AJAX request/response instead of "normal" form calling a new page type of action.
