Inset data to text box where the cursor is,

Im tring to make an rich text box editor,
and i wonderd how do i insert data from a var to where
the cursor is?

some body knows what i mean and knows the answer?

this would have to be client side as in javascript. There are a number of rich text box editors already out there.
