Add news story to archive.php?id=ID OF ENTERED STORY

Hello guys!

I was wondering if, while using my CMS and adding a news story, I could have it added to www.mydomain.com/archive/archive.php?id=$id?

Any help would be appreciated! Let me know if you have any trouble understanding my inefficient jargon.

EDIT: I probably worded that wrong. I was wondering if someone could show me an example of using the $_GET function to display based upon $id in the database.

at the most basic:

SELECT * from database_name where id=$_GET[id]
