[RESOLVED] String Manipulatoin help?

I'm trying to save the symbols a delete the company names. I've tried a few things in vb, but I'm better with php. Anyone have an idea how i could delete the company names along with the comma in lines link this?

A,AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC
AA,ALCOA INC
AAC,ARCADIA FINL LTD
AAE,AMDOCS AUTOMATIC COM EXCHANG
AAG,AMERICAN ANNUITY GROUP INC
AAG PT,AMERICAN ANNUITY GRP CAP TR
AAM,AAMES FINL CORP
AAP,AMWAY ASIA PACIFIC LTD
AAR,AMR CORP DEL
AAS,AMERISOURCE HEALTH CORP
AAT,ALL AMERN TERM TR INC

so the line: AAM,AAMES FINL CORP
would end up being: AAM

Any info or sample code would be greatly appreciated. I've played with string manipulation before, but i'm confused as to how i could say, "delete the comma and everything after it in each line."

echo $var[0];

That is one way, there are many other ways.

explode would be better than split. There's also

foreach($lines as &$line)
{
    $line = substr($line,strpos($line,',')+1);
}

function truncate_at_comma($string)
{
    return substr($string, strpos($string,',')+1);
}

$lines = array_map('truncate_at_comma', $lines);

I'm trying to isolate the cause: it's been happening since the vbulletin upgrade: something between its double-submission check and the responsiveness of this "quick reply" box's AJAX interaction or something.

(For example, I wrote this in the box and hit submit; this time vbulletin claimed it was a duplicate one one posted "in the last five minutes" - so it caught the double-submission, so this post only appeared once. But where did the double submission come from in the first place? And why do some duplicates get past the check that caught this one?)

It's happened to me once or twice, too; no discernible reason. (I'm pretty sure I did not double-click the submit button either time.)
