[RESOLVED] Are exceptions possible in .htaccess rewrites?

I've added a RewriteRule in my .htaccess file:

RewriteRule ^([a-z0-9]{3,20})$ mypage.php?var=$1 [L] 

Which basically evaluates and if the value past my domain is alpha numeric and somewhere between 3 and 20 chars long - do rewrite.

somedomain.com/somevalue123

However, if I already had some rewrites, can I add them somehow to exclusion list? Is it even possible? Spent time researching but came with nothing. A lot of advise as to how to create rewrites but no exceptions mentioned... Really need to figure out this. My thinking is if it is called RewriteRule, there's gotta be some exception to the rule.

I have never come across simple exceptions in .htaccess but my way around it is by listing my rewrite rules in a specific order in the htaccess file itself. Obviously if the first rule is met, the second rule is not executed. That's as close to an exception I can get.

You are right. This is what i started to lean towards after researching online. I was able to rearrange the list and everything works fine now.
