New Member: Needs Error Help

Hi, I have recently started trying to learn what I can about PHP, and have read a lot of your messages and tried a search for something similar to my problem, but 400+ messages makes it difficult to be sure what to do and what recommendations to follow. So at the cost of being told that I didn't do my research well enough, please let me post this concern that I am having.

I have a site that is running osCommerce 2.2 latest version and I had Dynamo Effects One Page Checkout installed to make PayPal my shopping cart gateway. I believe that is the correct term?

After installation, I have about 8 pages that will not open in my Admin module, each of them giving this error message:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class currencies in /home/~/public_html/~/store/admin/includes/classes/currencies.php on line 16

My research tells me that the error has something to do with the declaration of currencies.php having been made in some other files, and that this is a duplicate call, and that each of the other errors that occurs does so in their respective file/module when I try and open that area of the admin module, such as when I want to add products and images to my database, or to look at Admin or Localization, etc.

There is supposedly a "fix" that says to make this a request_once or something like that but I am not familiar where to begin to make this replacement, or in what files, or if it is a mass change to all or just some of these calls.

Since there are so many files at issue, what is the best way to do this? Is there a way I can get someone to do this and help me clean up these files so I can get back to the business of adding products and popsting the images for my products so they are visable?

I have NO experience with PHP. I was just beginning to learn Expression Web 2.0and trying to take ASP.NET with Jim Cheshire and then learned that my server host does not run Windows based shopping carts, so I had a choice: Change servers or go with Linux based osCommerce. That is what I did, but I am just not as smart about this language as you are and have got to find someone to help.

The second problem is this: I need to install a template on my web site and make it work with this shopping cart; something that represents the product better than the osCommerce demo page, and that could be a pain in the as* since there is most likely to be disconnects, errors, lionks broken etc., with the template installation and Dyanamo Effects Checkout One Page and osCommerce.

Can anyone recommend a source of templates that has a good "fit" with these three elements? Or perhaps a good reliable person to work with that won't cost me the other arm after the template is bought and these fixes paid for?

I am new to PHP and have little experience to call upon. All I ask is your forgiveness for this initial post but I am running out of time and money and need to turn this web site on and try and start earning something from this.

You could wrap the function in something like this:

So if I take this and insert it in the currencies.php file above the line at 16, or below the line at 16, it would do what? Cause the call to only occur once or does this have to be set to the number of times I see this error, such as I suggested so far about eight files call this error? I am really not up to speed with the PHP logic. This calculation is going to increment until it doesn't have to any more or what is it I have to do and where? Seems like a stupid question Kudose...to someone like yourself...but I just have a hard time seeing where the error is and how many other files are also going to be affected and how??

It may simply be a case of doing an [man]include[/man] or [man]require[/man] of currencies.php when you should instead be doing an [man]include_once[/man] or [man]require_once[/man], instead. This would be the case if currencies.php consists only of function and/or class definitions (and you'd therefore probably want to use [man]require_once[/man] to load that script). The "_once" functions only include the specified file if it has not yet been included.

Thank you for the instruction...it will take sometime to read and digest the information on include and require, but that is what I was thijnking after I had read a post somewhere that you may have authored. Since I have to do an installation of a template to my site, and I suspect that that will cause additional errors to the osCommerce program, I have deferred having fixes made. I assume that the installation will attempt to overwrite the files it needs to modify and leave those that are not affected. The installation then may correct or add to the errors that I have but from my perspective, paying someone to fix an error that may be affected after the installation is paying for the possible effort twice. I am greatly appreciative of this information and will share with the programmer I need to hire...whomever that may be.🙂
