upload problem

when i go to upload my php files to the server i get the message

Database selection failed: Unknown database ' widget_corp'

on the local machine it works perfectly fine so i'm not sure why it says the database is unkown when it works locally, is there something i need to upload for the database or something

any help much appreciated

Did you create the db on your host?

i'm not sure what i created it on, i created it on phpmyadmin with the user being root and it works on my local machine

is there a way i can find out if i can created it on host?

First to confirm you have a hosting provider where php and mysql are enabled? They provide you with web space and phpmyadmin. If so you should have the log on user id/name and password for you to log onto phpmyadmin just as you do on localhost,(its just online).

they told me yesterday that i do, so is there a way you have to log out out of local host or just in your code you change the details for the online server?

Localhost runs on your own machine with apache, php and mysql all setup in a package with something like xampp. The address bar should show http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ for you to view the phpmyadmin interface. Your hosting provider should have given you the address and password details for you to log on, take a look at there FAQ as others will have asked the same question. You then put the address, something like http://mysql7.yourhostingprovider.net/phpmyadmin/ into your address bar. You will then be prompted for your user name and password before you are allowed access.

Your VDS has it own proprietary Apache Web server, which you can administrate. This section enables you to restart the Web server and to enable/disable Apache watchdog monitoring.

is this what i need? just worried incase i do the wrong thing because it says i have to restart the web server so just incase it deletes everything
