HELP problems with file type

This is probably a simple error but dont think brains working today been a while since used PHP and want to bring myself back upto speed but when saving a file with .php extensive it is saving the file type as Broderbund Quick Prints Type which is then stopping the file opening in the browser can anyone tell me how to stop this happening please.

you need to configure your web server to parse .php files using the PHP interpreter. have a look at this.

What application are you saving this from? Have you tried simply cutting and pasting your code into notepad and saving it as a .php file and test it from there? (not that I recommend using notepad to build php sites).

It sounds like whatever app you are using, something's not quite right to be sure.

Do a search on IDEs.. there are some threads kicking around on recommended apps for php coding.

I was using notepad to write code in but will look at various apps cheers for help

If you don't want to pay for an app, you can use notepad++ by example. Of course, there are others as well.. this to me is the more well known free app out there.

Have installed notepad ++ and still getting the same problem it is just changing the file type to Broderbund Quick Prints Type and wont open the phpinfo file in windows which should be working. Cant tell whats wrong here can anyone help

read my earlier post. it still seems that regardless of what app you are using to create your PHP files your web server still does not know what to do with them. what web server software are you using?

thanks for help just made sure apache was installed correctly have now unstalled php and going to reinstall to see if this helps incase I have done this wrong will let you know how I get on

got the message when setting php back up Error trying to access httpd.conf file. You will need to manually configure the web server. What do I need to do to solve this

I have re installed php configured it to apache 2.2 but am still getting problems with the file type which is stopping me opening phpinfo I have also tried the steps suggested in the previous posts so now an completely at a loss
