Here is the situation.
This merchant run two database. Online web database - mysql on a ISP data center server, and inventory database - Microsoft SQL Server on his office server.
Here is the requests.
The product should be able to belong to several subcategories, such as"power bar"could belong to subcategory of food->candy and also belong to hobby->sports
Online sales (mysql database on ISP data center) should instantly change data of items in stock of the inventory databaes (microsoft sql server) on merchant's office server.
My questions are
As I know, that zen cart, or os commerce, the product would just belong to one subcategory. Am I right? Any plug in or modification codes allow product belong to multiple subcategories in zen cart or os commerce?
Are there any plug in, scripts or advices about how to update an remote inventory database (microsoft sql server on merchant's office server) after zen cart or os commerce (on ISP data center's server) finished the online sales transaction?
Any other source, systems, plug in or your experience you can share on this request?
We do our own online shop design we can custom design for this request, but if this merchant's request are only these two, if zen cart, os commerce can solve it, I don't think he would need a custom design, I would recommend him to go to zen cart or os commerce road.
Any zen cart or os commerce experts can give advice here?
