In PHP, what does <> signify?

I only understood not equal as !=, but this is yet another way (and IMO, a rather strange one).

MySQL supports the same pair of comparison operators, too.

Now if only we could get PHP to support the Perl <=> "spaceship" operator, we'd have the full set. 🙂

That's the strangest one I have seen yet! But admittedly, a handy one... perhaps if we're lucky, PHP 6 will support it? If not, perhaps some version 6 point release?

In any case, it does seem like quite the useful operator. And being it is a spaceship operator, it can even travel in space! [cyber space that is..] ok.. bad attempt at humor.
