While posting a rather long post in a quick reply, after hitting submit, sometimes (although not all the time) the process seems to hang for a couple seconds and then the post shows up twice.

I've noticed that I'm not the only one having this problem. I've deleted a couple of posts form Weedpacket already that seem to have sprung up this way.

Not sure why it's cropping up, but it does happen....

It happens to me sometimes, but the 30 sec posting speed catches it.
Being a Mod must remove the 30 second delay between posts.

Yes, being a mod does lift that limitation.

Not guaranteed. My experience is like this:

        • Sometimes the quick edit works as you'd expect (Ajax submission, and the post appears at the bottom)

        • Sometimes the page will refresh

        • Sometimes the page will refresh and there will be duplicate posts

        • Sometimes the "thanks for submitting" cut screen shows and when the page reloads there will be duplicate posts

        • Sometimes the duplicate post filter will kick in, and there will be one post when the page reloads

Triggering the submission with either keyboard or mouse event makes no difference. I'm not always looking at the thread in question after I hit submit (like many here I probably have several tabs open at once). But I'm going to hit the Post Quick Reply button now, and watch my outgoing headers. Let's see if I get any duplicates.

Hah! There! And I got the "thank you for posting ... there may be a delay" cut screen.

And yes, two duplicate requests were made pretty much simultaneously. The difference between them is that the first has the Ajax "X-Requested-With: XMLHttpRequest" header flag, and a "securitytoken" while the second doesn't.

Let's see what happens with this one.

Interesting... I think you qouted the wrong post Weedpacket.

It doe get annoying when it happens. I think they might have tried to get ajax working, but I remember JP saying that they disabled it because they couldn't get it to work.

Report it on vBulletin's website, I'm afraid it's their bug. I've seen it on numerous sites using their software.
