hyperlink in php email

can anyone explain this problem, I have set up a hyperlink in an email created by php eg.

$emaildetails = "The Change Management Document <a href='https://servicedesk.com' target='http://servicedesk.com' >$jobnum</a> Has Been Updated:<p>

when copied into word it displays

HYPERLINK "" \t "http://servicedesk.pcmsgroup.com"

and because it displays the "" \t before the link, it stops it from working

any ideas ?
