PHP Web Development Environment

Hi,

I am a newbie to php and mySQL. I am using Dreamweaver. What other softwares do you recommend to make my life easier with php development? I've heard of Eclipse before.

IMHO, Dreamweaver is the worst thing to ever be in the same sentence as PHP.

I love Zend Studio and I all use it for is editing (no debug tools, profiling or any of that) ... I don't like Zend Studio for Eclipse, that just me.

When I don't have ZS, I prefer to use PSPad, which is just a text editor with syntax highlighting.

But as you'll come to find out, to each their own.

A good editor is a matter of personal preference and experience.
I mostly use Eclipse PDT myself (open-source freeware available from http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/index.php), which is a nice editor for beginners and advanced users.
