Getting MySQL and PHP to work together

I am a high school student teaching myself PHP and MySQL. I have installed Apache and PHP. They work together perfectly. I installed mysql, enable the right stuff in PHP.ini, but I keep getting a "Cannot load mysql extension. Please check your PHP configuration. - Documentation" I need some help.

If you're using Windows, make sure mySQL and the path to your php extension DLLs are in the Windows path. For info on how to do that please see my stickied post in the Install forum here.

uninstall everything and go here:

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

and install xampp.

That's not always a solution. You can learn a lot from installing each individual piece by itself; not to mention you get greater customization during compilation.
