Complex PHP Problem?

I have no clue of where to start or how to make this work, So any help will be appreciated.

My original plan was to make a quiz-like Scenario of options that would sort of spider off into different options until you either "pass" or "fail".. With that being said here is what it would basically do:

So lets say we start at the main menu which links off to the "action=options.php" page.

Under the options available there are 4 options. Now the user can choose 1 of 4 options.

So if they choose option 1> It leads to the next set of options which would be either option 1.a, 2.a, or 3.a.

Now if they pick one of the options, lets say option 2: they have a 50% chance of being directed torwards either option 2b, or 2c..

And it goes on and on.. I just need help getting this started and the best way to make these options available.. I have no clue of how to start the page or what to do to make this work out correctly. Any help will be appreciated.

What do you mean by "50% chance of being directed torwards"?

Basically, it looks like you have some kind of graph, say a directed acyclic graph or a tree, of options. You can use a database table of options, then another database table of options relationships that will map an option to several other options that should be displayed.

By 50% chance of being directed, meaning that if they choose the option corresponding to those possible answers, that they could either go to the first option or the second option randomly.

What do you mean by options-relationships?

If you have certain options that they could be sent to based on their input, you could iterate through them using a random number of iterations, then simply redirect based on the one they landed on.

As an example--
If user selected option 2, and there are (lets just say) 3 suboptions they could link to, create a function that randomly gives you a number between 0- the max amount of options, then iterate through your sub options that many times. So when they select 2, you call a function, receive 3 as your iteration, go into the possible options, search through until you hit the 3rd one and then use that as their next step.

That way you are staying within the options that you wanted to use, but it will change everytime a user visits. There is an equal chance of hitting every option. From your post I think this might have been something you were looking for.

That's a bit of what I was looking for, I don't really know how to work it into a function though as I've never tried writing a code like this.. and when I do try I have no clue of how to start it.

As in if they make a selection, the page reloads but with the new randomly selected option displayed?

So to cut it short.. when you add a question it's given a value.. IE question 1 in the db is listed as q=q1 (field=value), question 2 is q=q2 so on and so forth. Now here's where I need the help.. Instead of listing it all at once.. I want it to only list the first set of questions.. then when the answer is "correct" to go to the next option.. Any help?
