Formatting dates

How do I go about using a pop up calendar selector for a date in a form and then make it arrange the date to the mysql format/order of yy/mm/dd
so far I am just getting nothing in the db and that was just typing in dates, is there a way or am I off track
I know there are javascript calendar selection popups out there but the page is written in php.

Oh I should add I tried this: $bDate = date('Y-d-m', $_POST['bDate']); but it doesn't work.

You can use such a client side calendar selection script, then when you get it on the server side, use PHP to convert it to the desired format.
